How much does accident recovery cost?
The same zone-based rate as any recovery: £99 call-out within the M25 or £150 outside, plus £2.50 or £3.00 per loaded mile. Accident-damaged vehicles carry a £40 surcharge, and seized wheels or no steering carry £30 — reflecting the extra equipment genuinely involved, not a blanket "accident markup" applied by default.
Does my insurance cover accident recovery?
That depends on your own policy, not on us. Comprehensive cover often includes recovery after an accident; third-party-only policies usually don't. Either way, you pay Langford directly for the recovery — the same 50% deposit, 50% on collection as any booking — and separately claim that cost back from your insurer if your policy or the circumstances entitle you to.
In a non-fault accident, the at-fault driver's insurer is often legally liable for reasonable recovery and storage costs. We don't bill insurers directly on your behalf — you pay us as normal, then reclaim the cost through your own or the other driver's insurer, so keep your invoice and any police reference number handy for that.
What's included
- Damaged, non-runner and non-steering vehicles
- Specialist recovery for seized or locked wheels
- Photographic condition report available on request
- Direct to an insurer's approved bodyshop, or your own choice of garage
Working with insurers and solicitors
If this recovery is part of an insurance claim, tell us when you call and we'll make sure the paperwork — timestamps, photographs, the exact collection and delivery addresses — is in a form your insurer or engineer can actually use, rather than a scrap of paper that goes missing.
